Queen Bea
Third-grader Beatrice Walker is popular. She’s fun, athletic, smart, pretty, and…bossy. SO bossy that some kids are starting to call her Queen Bea. And now that a new girl, Luci, who is NOT bossy, has joined their class, Beatrice finds her friends drifting away.
Will a class trip to a bee farm give Beatrice new insight into getting along with others?
What If...? A Worrier's Toolkit
These days, anxiety just seems to be a part of life. But for many tweens and young teens, it can become overwhelming. Since they lack the life experiences and maturity to put their worries into perspective, they may tend to catastrophize things.
What If…? A Worrier’s Toolkit seeks to remedy this by asking the student to write down the WORST THING that could happen in each presented scenario and then brainstorm ideas for positive actions. Situations range from minor issues (forgetting to pack a lunch, arriving late to soccer practice) to heavier topics (parents arguing, a pet dying). Possible solutions are listed on the next page.
Thinking ahead empowers the child to have a plan, be decisive, and have multiple options. He or she can become proactive, rather than reactive, and approach life from a position of strength, rather than one of fear.
In addition to the Public School Edition, there is a Christian School Edition which contains scripture verses.
